      According to the latest data analysis, the Provincial Meteorological Observatory predicts that the area south of the Huaihe River will enter the Meiyu period from south to north. After plum entry, precipitation in our province will increase significantly.

     It is expected that the Meiyu rainfall will be normal this year, and there will be more rainfall in some areas in the south. The precipitation phases in the Meiyu period are obvious: the early rains and sunshines alternate, the precipitation is interrupted after 26 days, the rainband is reconstructed around the end of June, and a period of concentrated precipitation appears again. It is expected that plum blossoms will emerge from the end of the first ten days of July to the beginning of the middle ten days, and the length of plum blossom period will be normal.

     At present, the water regime of rivers, lakes and reservoirs in our province is generally stable. However, with the arrival of the Meiyu period, the rainfall in the south of Huaihe River will increase significantly. On the afternoon of the 18th, Zhang Jinsong, Secretary-General of the Provincial Defense Department and Deputy Director-General of the Provincial Water Resources Department, chaired a conference on flood control, and Zhang Chunsong, Deputy Inspector of the Department, participated in the conference. The meeting discussed the current situation of flood control and drought prevention, and put forward clear requirements for the next stage of flood control and drought prevention. The meeting called on all relevant units to strictly implement the 24-hour duty and leadership shift system, strengthen monitoring and early warning of rainwater situation, strengthen consultation, scientific dispatch, adhere to both flood control and drought relief, continue to do a good job in drought control and water use management in Huaibei region, do a good job in preventing heavy rainfall along southern Jiangsu region, and pay attention to preventing the rapid change of drought and flood in northern Jiangsu region.

     In view of the influence of El Nino and other factors, this year's Meiyu situation is complex, showing atypical characteristics of Meiyu, Meiyu volume and date of Meiyu still exist uncertainty. The Provincial Preventive Office will continue to pay close attention to weather changes, strengthen communication and consultation coordination, and do a good job in flood control and drought prevention this year.
