This year, the Hebei Provincial Department of Water Conservancy carried out the water supply work of Hutuo River, Fuyang River and Nanjuma River. On September 13, the drainage gate of the middle route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project began to discharge water, and the water supply work was officially launched. Among them, the maximum time of recharge of Hutuo River is 85 cubic meters per second. According to Ding Xinge, deputy inspector of Hebei Provincial Water Resources Department, 119 groundwater monitoring data showed that the effect was distinct compared with the data from September 13 when the water supply began. The average groundwater rise of the three rivers is more than 0.5 meters, and the most obvious one is the Hutuo River. 37 of the 70 observation points have increased significantly, accounting for 53%. Among them, the groundwater level of Xicaolu in Raoyang County of Hutuo River rose the most, reaching 5.43 meters. Since the South-to-North Water Transfer Project was introduced, not only the benefits of ecological water supplement have gradually emerged, but also the water quality has been significantly improved. Du Xiaona, a citizen of Shijiazhuang, said, "The water from the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has been used in our city circle, including the people around us. Now the water quality is particularly good. In the past, there was a large layer of scale, but now there is no more, and the taste of the water is much better than before." Up to now, the first phase of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has transferred 19.1 billion cubic meters of water, providing 1461 days of uninterrupted water supply, and the first phase of the East Water Transfer Project has supplied 3.1 billion cubic meters of water to Shandong. It took nearly three years for the first phase of the Middle East Railway Project to be completed, from 10 billion cubic meters to 20 billion cubic meters, which took only one year. Yuan Qitian, deputy director of the South-to-North Water Transfer Department, said: "The water supply guarantee along the project has been greatly improved. South water has become the main source of water for more than 40 large and medium-sized cities in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan and Shandong areas, and more than 100 million people in the Huanghuai-Haihai Plain have benefited directly. The total beneficiary population of the midline project is over 530 million. The total beneficiary population of the Eastern Route Project is more than 660 million, of which the Shandong Jiaodong Peninsula has achieved full coverage of the South Water.
